Artist Michael Ajerman presents his lecture on the German painter, Paula Modersohn-Becker

A lecture on artist Paula Modersohn-Becker’s life and work. While widely known in Germany, the Royal Academy’s ‘Making Modernism’ exhibition presents a brilliant display of her work rarely seen abroad. This talk will interpret key works from the show along with others from her life made in less than a decade. This talk will put into context how in the early 1900’s Modersohn-Becker created an approach to painting that was original to her time that defies category. Work that still resonates with a visceral energy to viewers today.
This lecture will coincide with the current RA exhibition Making Modernism which features the artist.
Talk will be an hour. Followed by Q and A.
