“I have been fascinated by the way that light can transform the appearance and meaning of things. Luminous watercolour seems the perfect medium with which to suggest the way shapes and colours can change and become lost in shadow or solid forms become insubstantial, dissolving into light.”
Veronica Ricks graduated in sculpture at Bath Academy of Art and the Royal College of Art, after which she was awarded a Greater London Art Association award. She was called as an expert witness at the Nelson Mandela Sculpture Tribunal and has been a member of the judging panel for the Society of Portrait Sculptors and a Mentor for the Founders’ Sculpture Prize. She was appointed Principal of Heatherleys in 2014 prior to which she had been Vice Principal and Head of Sculpture. Veronica has exhibited sculpture and paintings in watercolour which explore the way that light can alter the meaning and appearance of everyday places and things
