Description

Explore two painting and drawing techniques that were used in the Renaissance atelier: Silverpoint and Egg Tempera.

A silverpoint drawing is like a very fine pencil drawing and the paper will be specially prepared for this technique.
Egg tempera paint, a type of emulsion is made from eggs and pigment and you will work from renaissance paintings that have employed this medium.

After having prepared the grounds for these techniques you will use them to make your own drawings and paintings.

In the first part of the course, we will use still life and old master drawings as subjects.
Finally, a life model will be the subject of a silver point drawing.

In the second part of the course, you will make egg tempera paint that will be applied to a prepared gesso panel.

Please refer to the materials list regarding items you need to obtain in advance!
