Landscape Watercolour Painting
Watercolourists have long been fascinated by the opportunities for painting presented by the landscape.
On this landscape painting course, you’ll explore the basic techniques of watercolour painting. This will include the use of washes, glazing and wet into wet painting.
References will be used for studio work and we will take the opportunity to paint directly outdoors. This structured course is suitable for beginners and for more experienced students.

Course Materials
You will need to bring the following basic materials with you on the first day:
BRUSHES (nylon or sable):
1 Medium round ended brush size 10 or 12
1 Small round ended brush size 3 or 4
1 Large mop brush
PAINTS
You can use a box of paints but tubes are preferable.
You will need:
Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Yellow
Yellow ochre or Raw Siena
Crimson Alizarin
Permanent Rose
Burnt Siena
Cerulean Blue
Cobalt Blue
Indigo
Viridian
PAPER
1 small sketch pad (watercolour paper)
Sheets of watercolour paper or large pad of paper
(weight 140lb/300gms; medium surface)
You can buy watercolour paper in the school shop each morning.
You will also need the following:
A watercolour palette
1 bottle of masking fluid
2 water jars
1 roll absorbent kitchen towel
1 roll masking tape
HB pencil
Rubber
Please purchase these materials in advance and bring them with you on your first day.
