Tutor Highlight: Susan Wilson presents at NZSA’s 27th annual conference
Heatherleys’ tutor Susan Wilson joins, Between Nations / Across Seas: The Transnational and Transcultural Pacific, the 27th annual conference by New Zealand Studies Association (NZSA) together with Stockholm University and the University of Turku.
She will deliver her key note, From Te Wai Pounamou to the All Saint’s Road, as part of the five day international conference, which covers a range of topics including art, cultural studies, identity and multiculturalism, Maori Studies, Pacific Studies, archaeology, heritage and museum studies.

Bio
Born in Dunedin, New Zealand, Susan Wilson was expelled from teacher training college for her radical political views. She studied nursing and worked for two years in a neurosurgical unit. After traveling in South America, she arrived in England and studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts from 1978 to 1982. After which she attended the Royal Academy Schools from 1982 to 1986.
In 1987, Susan was appointed painting fellow at Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Art and Technology. She then lectured at Wolverhampton Polytechnic and the Royal Academy Schools as a visiting tutor, before becoming a tutor at Chelsea School of Art.
Susan has received numerous awards, including an Italian Government Scholarship to Venice in 1984, a Richard Ford Scholarship to Spain in 1985, and a Spectator Competition commendation in 1991.
