We were very privileged to receive a tour of the Pre-Raphaelite Sisters Exhibition from the National Portrait Gallery’s Chief Curator, Dr Alison Smith.
Heatherleys has many historical links with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, not least in Joanna Boyce Wells who was a student here and who is quoted as saying ‘I have a talent and the constant impulse to employ it, for the love of it and the longing to work… and no man has a right to say that that is to be unheeded’ (5 August 1857)
