Artist and Heatherleys tutor Sarah-Jane Moon is in the top 10 selected for Madam F Queer Britain Art Awards 2024
Sarah Jane Moon‘s portrait of New York based photographer Lola Flash has been selected as one of the Top 10 in the Madam F Queer Britain Art Awards this year. With a career spanning for over three decades, Lola’s work is at the forefront of visual politics, challenging gender, sexual and racial stereotypes. Sarah Jane Moon’s work also centers people from the LGBTQIA+ community and seeks to celebrate and champion those who make positive change happen in our societies.
Award winners will be announced 5 June 2024. View the other finalists and visit the Queer Britain Museum at 2 Granary Square, King’s Cross, London N1C 4BH to see projections of the finalists’ work.
Sarah Jane‘s portrait of Lola was previously selected for the National Portrait Gallery Portrait Award (2020). It is part of the upcoming Contemporary British Portrait Painters exhibition in Brixton from 8 – 15 June, at The Department Store, 248 Ferndale Rd, London SW9 8FR.
