Description

Ceramic Sculpture

This course is a wonderful way to create with your hands in a supportive environment. Learn how to make both functional and sculptural objects.

Developing an understanding of materials and processes as well as enhancing your design skills. Learn how to build with slabs, coil pots and press mould. Explore surface techniques such as painting with coloured liquid clay slips, oxide pigments, glazing, and incorporating texture through mark-making.

The course allows you to develop in a comprehensive and personal way, catering to your specific interests. The tutor will offer demonstrations and one-to-one guidance so you can work at your own pace using the processes you enjoy most.

The use of a sketchbook in and outside of class will encourage you to write down notes, gather visual and technical information and explore ideas and inspiration. Your tutor will suggest visits to exhibitions, to broaden your knowledge, investigate new ideas and techniques, learning more about ceramic art.

Suitable for beginners and those wishing to improve upon their skills.
